How Miss Anj sailed her way to success

"Be your own navigator, and always remember that you will arrive somewhere."

Miss Anj

Miss Anj is a Saint Louis University Communication graduate. Her ultimate ambition in life is to become a storyteller. Thus she has always wanted to enroll in a communication program. As a result, she attempted everything connected to telling stories and eventually became the university's Deputy Chief of Features and Entertainment Writer and Literary Editor for White & Blue. She competed for White & Blue in several competitions.

One of her most memorable university experiences was getting to know and spending time with her friends from other classes and talking with new individuals. Despite various attempts to discourage her, she was able to overcome them. Miss Anj had to complete the course over six years before graduating in 2019. She dealt with people's criticism and the pressures of being a leader.

She lives by the quote "People tell you things that they don't understand."

Miss Anj's journey after graduation was not simple. The most challenging aspect of the journey was deciding where to go and what job to take. She applied to several companies, some of which were international. A German company has accepted her application and has made her an offer of employment. One of her ambitions was to visit Germany.

Nevertheless, Miss Anj was turned down and left her dream to work on GMA's Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho, where she was allocated to various stories. Two of her best projects were created at KMJS. One of them is a documentary that won "Best Documentary in 2019" featured in newspapers. Another is an investigative documentary titled "agarwood," She received praise for being the only one to produce such a film. If the opportunity arises, she plans to pursue a master's degree in documentary filmmaking.

Miss Anj is now a Video Content Researcher and Producer at Summit Media. The pressure she faced from dealing with several firms was her most challenging job at Summit Media. Her work at Summit Media is very different from what she did at KMJS because she is dealing with various celebrities. With Karen Davila, Jose Mari Chan, and SpongeCola, she created the best content in Summit Media.

Oftentimes, Miss Anj feels overwhelmed with the amount of work she gets, but she always reminds herself that everything is a learning opportunity. Miss Anj is happy and content with her profession and situation. Though she has many ‘what ifs’ she keeps reminding herself that where she is now is what she chose. Her favorite part in her profession is that She learns and discovers new things, and she loves the connection between the people in other parts of the country.

Her most valuable piece of advice for achieving success is to compete with yourself continually. Prove what you can do by challenging yourself. She claims that you must desire and learn to love what you do. She claims, "You have to want it." Her mantra is that we should trust our own pace. The road ahead is lengthy, but everything happens for a reason. Make room for your dreams and ignore those who try to knock you down.

Miss Anj has a sailboat tattoo on her arm to remind her that she will always arrive there; she sometimes feels like she has no idea where she is heading or whether what she is doing is meaningful. She reminds us to be our navigators and find our way to our desired destination.
